Bursting with colour, texture, and energy, Rhythm of Life is the latest body of work by Co. Monaghan visual artist Gráinne O’Reilly. Known for her bold, contemporary abstract style and expressive use of media, Gráinne’s large-scale paintings invite viewers into a vibrant world where movement, motivation, and emotion collide. With a background in textile design, her approach blends layers, textures, and 3D relief, creating richly tactile works that are both visually striking and deeply personal. This new series reflects the ebb and flow of life’s momentum — its pauses and surges — captured through dynamic brushwork and an intuitive sense of colour. Gráinne’s work is not just seen, but felt, offering a powerful visual rhythm that pulses from canvas to viewer.

Gráinne O’Reilly, a local visual artist from Co. Monaghan, specialises in contemporary, abstract, and modern art. Her colourful, large, abstract, contemporary paintings bring life to any room. Having studied Textile Design, Gráinne has a love of exploring with media, paint applications, layering, and with her new series, 3D relief. Her use of colour is very on-trend, particularly with references to new contemporary home finishes. Her work is of a large scale, which captures the viewers’ attention when entering a room.
Gráinne’s large, contemporary, abstract and imaginative style allows the viewer to engage and explore the expression of colour applied to the canvas. She has a ‘Grá’ for oils, creating one-off paintings, applying a very unique style which is very expressive.
Her new series, ‘Rhythm of Life’, is very textured, which she refers to as textured art. Her choice of title derives from how one progresses in life… Stops and starts with regards to the energy and motivation one puts into themselves while doing something. Her paintings reflect the energy and movement that is expressed while painting.
