13th February SUBSTANCE ABUSE
This evening has been designed for those who are concerned about a family member's use or abuse of alcohol, drugs or gambling. Over the course of the evening we will look at addiction and the effects this has on the family. We will also look at what we can do to help the person in addiction and how we can take care of ourselves and the support that is available to do this. Aine Wilson

Myths and Facts about Weight Management and Health
Everyone is aware that the number of overweight and obese Irish children and adults is increasing at an alarming rate. Recent media campaigns like 'Stop the Spread' from Safe food and popular programmes like 'Operation Transformation' raise the thorny issue of overweight/obesity. This talk aims to inform and empower you and your family to make realistic, practical and evidence based changes to your diet and physical activity that will be sustainable. It will also challenge some of your attitudes and behaviours about food as well as dealing with common myths around weight loss. Finally the talk will conclude with the critical tips for successful weight loss maintenance. Whether or not you need to lose weight, this talk will provide useful information and tips. The course aim is to deliver an introduction to “Encaustic Art” with an emphasis on card making and the production of small scale art pieces. No prior learning required. This programme is designed and deliverable to participants between the ages of 12 – 90 years of age. And is a fascinating look at what it is to create with wax in a manageable manner i.e.: card making and small art pieces suitable for framing.
