Moving On is a Fas funded local training initiative operated by the Blayney Blades Community Development Project. Moving On offers vocational training and personal development to women in South Monaghan.
Moving On was started by the Blayney Blades in 1997. In 2005 the Blayney Blades and Moving On changed premises from the Parish Centre in Castleblayney to the Iontas Centre. Today all Moving On training takes place in Iontas. The course coordinator works from the Blayney Blades office on the 1st floor of Iontas. Trainees can avail of facilities such as the computer suite, the training kitchen, meeting rooms, the library, the out of schools service and the creche.
About training
Moving On is open to any woman who wishes to return to work, further her education and develop to her full potential. Trainees with varying levels of ability and educational attainment are welcomed on Moving On.
While on Moving On participants receive a training allowance, a childcare subsidy and travel allowance. Moving On does not affect lone parent allowance.
While on Moving On trainees complete a FETAC Level 3 Major Award in Vocational Employment Skills.
This award incorporates various modules in workplace skills such as office procedure and computer skills.
