Welcome to Iontas Events - Latest Status

As global health concerns continue to develop and as Ireland enters into Level 3 from midnight 6th Oct 2020, Ìontas Theatre and Ìontas Art Gallery will close and are due to reopen to the public on Wednesday 28th Oct 2020, as our team continues to work diligently behind the scenes.

While some events, unfortunately, have had to be cancelled, we are working with many of our event partners to see how best to reschedule each event for your enjoyment. As you can imagine, this takes time, so we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this new territory.

As we act as per Government and HSE guideline, which are changing, sadly our current exhibition TWENTY: TWENTY... vision will no longer be accessible to the public and will end during this lockdown. We'd like to thank Niamh for exhibiting with Ìontas Arts, for her professionalism throughout and giving our community access to her wonderful work. We wish Niamh all the very best. Please visit to view her online.

Ìontas Community Artist in Residence: 'REFLECTIONS' by Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher working with St Mary's Residential Care Home.

The current phase of this project is remotely directed by Orlagh through the diligent staff working at St Mary's Residential Care Home, Castleblayney. Artistic creativity between staff and residents will continue during residents usual safe and structured creative time. We wish staff and residents at St Mary's and all Residential Care homes nothing but the very best during this pandemic.

Previously having rescheduled smaller operational and local shows which could perform to a 56 seat capacity, with 2 m social distancing, our larger shows remain postponed until 2021.

In order to provide you with as much information as we can, we will update changes to the status of all impacted events, so feel free to check back often or sign up and opt-in to subscribe to email updates.

  • For future events that are currently postponed, there’s nothing you need to do. If anything changes, we will contact you with updates.
  • If you purchased online and your event has been cancelled, there’s nothing you need to do – we will get in touch with you directly with more information.
  • If you purchased your tickets with cash and wish to seek a refund, we will arrange for a mutual time for you to return to the Box Office Reception point of purchase when we re-open.
  • If your event has been rescheduled, we are working with the event organiser to identify new dates, and we will contact you as soon as we have confirmation and more information on capacity numbers.
  • For information about your tickets please see the statement from Íontas Theatre

For now, we want to thank you for being such a valued part of the live entertainment and visual arts world.

At Íontas Theatre, our vision is to connect people through the power of live events. What makes these experiences so special is the pure joy we feel from being among a community of like-minded, dedicated customers, which is why we’d like to take a moment to offer our most sincere support to any of our fellow customers, friends and family who have been affected by this virus.

We wish everyone the best health and safety during this difficult time, and we look forward to returning to our favourite live events, safely, as soon as possible.
